Rolf Giegold
(*1970 in Erlangen) Studies in archaeology at The University of Saarland, Saarbrücken, and at The University of Crete, Rethymnon. Master degree of Fine Arts at The Hochschule der Bildenden Künste, Saar, Saarbrücken and and at The Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts, Diploma degree in Fine Arts at The Hochschule der Bildende Künste Saar, Saarbrücken, Master student of Professor Christina Kubisch. Rolf Giegold’s artistic work concerns social questions and problems, which is visualized through his installations. For his conceptual works he has been awarded with grants and stipends, among others from the Akademie der Künste 2002, the Eberhard Roters stipend Berlin 2006, and the working residence of Schloss Wiepersdorf 2007. Rolf Giegold has been exhibited numerous times at single and group shows as well as with projects in public space, for instance in Berlin, Graz, Liverpool, Munich, Saarbrücken, Stuttgart, Dubai, El Salvador and Wiesbaden. http://www.rolfgiegold.de |
Åsa Helena Stjerna
(*1970 in Stockholm) Åsa Stjerna was educated at The University of Arts, Crafts and Design and The Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm, together with further studies in musicology and philosophy at Stockholm University. Stjerna is working with site-specific explorations of a range of phenomena through sound. Her multi-channel sound installations reinforce and amplify a sense of place, evoking social and historical associations, whilst revealing a linear as well as three-dimensional spatiality. For her artistic investigations she has been awarded with grants and stipends, among others from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee, the Hasselblad Foundation and the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. She has participated in a number of exhibitions both in Sweden and internationally for instance in Stockholm, Berlin, Helsinki, Hamburg, Paris, Ljubljana und Kaliningrad. 2009-2011 Stjerna is Dorothea Erxleben holder of a scholarship in Sound Art, connected to The Hochschule für Bildende Künste, Braunschweig, Germany. http://www.asastjerna.se |
